At EarlyBird256, we strive to not only show our students that they are loved and supported, but also empower them to pursue their dreams and write their own futures. We show them that they have the ability to create with their hands, and we teach them how that can help them financially to achieve their goals. As a result, most of the students have their own projects or “side hustles” — such as farming, raising livestock, or helping a parent run a shop — and part of our work is to help them thrive with their side projects as well as in school.

The EarlyBird256 space is created to give children in rural Uganda a space to fully express themselves. One of the many ways we connect with the students is through our art workshops where they get to draw what they feel, so that the space is in alignment with their needs

After enduring one of the longest lockdowns in the world, Uganda is finally opening its schools again. We’re thrilled that many of the country’s children will once again be able to attend classes and receive the education and stimulation they need. In addition to this great news, EarlyBird256 has its own exciting announcement to make — After attending an EarlyBird256-sponsored workshop, a headteacher of a local high school was inspired to do something. The teacher, Ms. Olivia Nambi from Busoga High School, helped secure the new scholarship program for the students.

The theme for World AIDS Day 2021 is “Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access, Everyone’s Voice.” One of the many reasons why the communities we support are suffering is because of the missing generation — the one that was wiped out by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This missing generation included teachers, nurses, doctors, and engineers — parents that left behind vast numbers of orphans.
