Scholarship Program: Students are learning beyond the Classroom through UNDP’s Greening Schools Initiative.

EarlyBird256 and our partner school Busoga High school share a belief that education should extend beyond the classroom. One of the many reasons why the scholarship program is very important is because the students are not only getting a formal education, but also learning from practical, community centered learning. The school has a nursery bed through the Greening Schools Initiative, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) that our students get to participate in.

The Greening Schools Initiative is shaping how students understand nutrition, sustainability as well as taking care of the environment. The students get hands-on learning by actively participating in planting and nurturing fruit tree seedlings. These seedlings are not only grown on campus but are also shared with students and their families to plant at home. In many rural communities, nutritional challenges are not caused by a lack of knowledge alone, but by limited access to resources and practical solutions. This initiative helps bridge this gap by showing families tangible, achievable ways to improve household nutrition.

We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners for making this work possible. Your support is helping students at Busoga High School not only succeed academically, but also become problem-solvers, and contributors to their communities.

Donations to this school fees campaign go far beyond covering tuition costs. When students stay in school, they are better positioned to participate in programs like the Greening Schools Initiative, programs that create ripple effects well beyond the school compound.
